Cong workers try to gherao Chhattisgarh CM's house, arrested

Congress workerswere today arrested when they tried to gherao Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh's official residence here to protest against the detention of party vice president Rahul Gandhi in Delhi.
The bid togheraothe Chief Minister's house was foiled by a heavy police contingent deployed near Akashvani chowk.
"At-least 189 Congress workers, includingits state chief Bhupesh Baghel, senior party leader Mohammed Akbar, MLA Umesh Patel, were arrestedunder Section 151 (apprehension of breach of peace) of Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC)", Raipur Additional Superintendent of Police (City) Vijay Agrawal told PTI.
However, later they were released unconditionally, he said.
Large numbers of Congress activists heading towards Chief Minister'sresidencewere prevented by police personnel near Akashvani chowk.
Heavy security personnel led by senior officials were deployed at the spot.
Yesterday, Rahul Gandhi was detained when he had gone to meet the family of ex-serviceman Ram Kishan Grewal who allegedly committed suicide over One Rank One Pension issue in Delhi.
"Police are acting like puppet at the hands of BJP government. They arrested workers while they were carrying out peaceful protest and marching towards the Chief Minister's house," alleged Baghel.
