Main Opposition Congress today boycotted the proceedings in Chhattisgarh Assembly for the day in protest against the rejection of an adjournment motion over an alleged fake land deal and "inaction" on part of the BJP Government on the issue.
Raising the issue during Zero Hour, Nand Kumar Patel (Congress) moved an adjournment motion seeking reply from the Government on a fake land deal in Bhadora village of Bilaspur district.
Joining him on the issue, another Congress MLA Haridas Bhardwaj said the fake deal involves Government land and the matter should be discussed in the house.
Opposition members created ruckus in the house seeking immediate discussion on the issue.
When the Speaker declined to accept their demand, the members further created din in the House, forcing him to adjourn the proceedings for ten minutes.
When the House reassembled, the Opposition members alleged that the relative of a Minister was involved in the land deals in the region. They shouted slogans against the BJP Government, forcing another adjournment.
The Congress members later announced they were boycotting the proceedings for the entire day to protest "inaction" on the issue.
