"Chouhan should step down from his post to pave the way for a fair probe into the scam. A Supreme Court monitored CBI inquiry should be initiated. Furthermore, the CBI should also probe into investigations carried out into the scam so far," AICC General Secretary and MP Affairs Incharge Mohan Prakash told reporters here.
"The bandh has been called to pay condolence to people who died in connection with the Vyapam scam so far. District Congress committees will hold condolence meetings across the state to pay homage to the departed souls," he said.
He said all wings of the Congress as well as like-minded parties and organisations would be contacted to drum up support for the bandh since the future of a generation has been ruined by the scam.
Many accused have died in the scam, which is a massive admission and recruitment racket allegedly involving several bureaucrats as well as politicians.
The most high-profile death in the case was that of Shailesh Yadav, son of Madhya Pradesh Governor Ram Naresh Yadav. Shailesh (50) was found dead at his father's residence in the Mall Avenue area of Lucknow on March 25 this year.
