Congress condemns attack on lensmen

West Bengal Congress leaders said that the alleged attack today on three mediapersons by people carrying Trinamool Congress flags was nothing but an attempt to hide the misdeeds of the ruling party.
"(The assault is) a dangerous sign for parliamentary democracy and comes at a time when opposition parties are facing attacks by Trinamool Congress over filing nominations for the panchayat polls," said WBPCC president Pradip Bhattacharya.
"The attack is aimed at hiding (the) misdeeds of the Trinamool Congress," he alleged.
Three lensmen for local TV channels were attacked with iron rods and sticks in Barrackpore by a mob carrying Trinamool Congress flags.

The trio had gone there to cover reports of factional clashes between rival groups in the party which erupted after one person was killed in the area in the morning.
Police said three persons have been arrested in connection with the attack on the lensmen.
