Punjab Congress today expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for allotting coal blocks and an industrial corridor to the state.
In a statement here, Punjab Congress president Partap Singh Bajwa today thanked the Prime Minister for allotting coal blocks on priority for the state's thermal plants aimed at meeting the power demand and give special attention to other needs of the state.
Congress leaders had already taken up the matter with the Centre and it was due to concerted efforts made by PPCC that the Prime Minister had extended the Kolkata-Delhi industrial corridor up to Amritsar, he said.
Criticising the SAD-BJP combine state government, Bajwa said due to non-cooperative attitude of the government, a central university at Amritsar and the historical Beas-Quadian rain link between religious seats of Radha Swamis and Muslim Ahmadiya community failed to take off.
The SAD-BJP government was not able to utilise central funds worth Rs 1,600 crore for various Centre-sponsored schemes and made a mark in misappropriation of funds meant for Sarv Sikhya Abhiyan, he alleged.
