Alka was undergoing treatment at the Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences here for some months where she breathed her last this morning, Congress sources said.
Her body was taken to her native Pratapgarh district from where it would be taken to Allahabad tomorrow morning for the last rites, the sources said.
Senior Congress leaders, including party president Sonia Gandhi, general secretary Rahul Gandhi and several union ministers and Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav conveyed their condolences and prayed for peace for the departed soul, they said. PTI SAB PG
