Congress most communal party, says Gadkari

Hitting out at rival parties' alleged bid to portray Narendra Modi "as a villain", former BJP chief Nitin Gadkari today charged that Congress was the "most communal party" which was creating fear in the minds of the minorities and the backward classes.
Addressing a convention of north-eastern peoples here, former BJP Chief Nitin Gadkari alleged that Congress's main tool was fear.
"Congress is the most communal party... Some people in the media and some in the Left and Congress want to portray BJP and Modi as a villain. Congress's main capital is fear and to create fear, it is playing vote-bank politics", Gadkari said.

Gadkari, the in-charge for the party's Delhi affairs, said that BJP doesn't want to play politics in the name of caste and creed. The party is committed to social justice and economic development, he stressed.
Modi, the Gujarat Chief Minister, is the BJP's prime ministerial candidate for the 2014 general elections.
Further, taking a dig at Congress for what he said was its dynastic politics, Gadkari averred that BJP was a democratic party which was not run by a mother-son or father-son duo.

"As a small-time worker of the party, I used to put posters on walls. My only qualification was that I was a grassroots worker and I was later elected president of the party... Because this is not a party of mother-son or father- son. This is a democratic party," he said.

Meanwhile, addressing the rally, Gadkari assured the north -eastern peoples that the party was seized of their concerns and would take those up if voted to power.
BJP also released a booklet listing the issues affecting migrants from the north-east in Delhi, among them the demand for the setting up of an exclusive legal aid helpline for the people from the region.
Raising the pitch for the party to be voted to power at the Centre in the 2014 elections, Gadkari charged that, "The UPA government lacks vision and has no development-oriented approach".
"Money is available in the country. It is not a problem. The problem is poor vision of the UPA government and the lack of leadership", he said.

Making a comparison between the GDP and the agricultural growth rates of Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh with the rest of the country, Gadkari said, "Our economist prime minister has "failed in his duty".
