Congress Sarpanch booked for assaulting BJP supporters

Five Congress activists, including a sarpanch, have been booked for allegedly assaulting some BJP supporters over a political rivalry, police said today.
"The victims were on way to hospital with a patient when they were intercepted by the accused and assaulted," a police officer said.
He said the accused have been identified as Kewal, sarpanch of the Gari village, Umesh Singh of Bareli, Maqbool of Gari, Ranjit Singh of Gari and Raju Singh of Gran Morh.
Police said the accused Kewal is associated with the Congress.
"The victims have been identified as Sohan Singh, Balwan Singh, Balwant Singh, Ishar Dass, Rajesh Singh and Raj Singh. Sohan Singh and Balwan Singh have sustained critical injuries and were referred to Government Medical college hospital Jammu for treatment," police said.
