Accusing the treasury bench of not having any respect towards rules of business of the Odisha Assembly, opposition Congress today served a privilege notice against the state government.
"There has been blatant violation of rules of the House. Though there is provision of giving reply to all the issues raised by members through special mention within 48 hours, the government has not met the deadline," pointed out leader of opposition Narasingha Mishra while raising the issue during the zero hour.
Stating that the state government has so far replied to only 15 of the 75 issues raised by members through special mention, Mishra said this is a clear violation of the section 116-D of the Rules and Business of the Odisha Legislative Assembly.
"This government has violated norms under the constitution of India. Is not it rape of the law of the land," Mishra asked seeking a ruling from the chair.
Urging the Speaker to upheld dignity of the House, the Congress leader requested him to accept the privilege notice.
Congress member Naba Kishore Das said it will be not be wrong to torn down the Rules of the Business booklet if it is not abided by the government. He urged Speaker Niranjan Pujari to intervene in the matter.
