Addressing the demonstrators, AICC General Secretary and former union minister V Narayanasamy charged the Narendra Modi led NDA Government with inflicting hardships on all sections of people within short period of coming to power.
He said the amendments sought to be made to the Land Acquisition Act were an immediate example of "anti-farmers and anti-people measures of the NDA Government."
He said the Congress would continue to register its protest against the "injurious" policies of the NDA regime.
PCC President A V Subramanian, former Chief Minister and Leader of the opposition V Vaithilingam, party legislators were among those who spoke.
They also condemned the AINRC Government for 'failure' to fulfill promises held out to the people during the run up to the Assembly polls in 2011.
