Congress workers protested here today, demanding the authorities revoke the suspension of a primary school principal, who had allegedly argued with Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat in public recently.
The party also asked the chief minister to offer an apology for insulting the elderly woman, a widow, in full public view.
"The chief minister had no right to humiliate the woman, who had gone to his darbar only to air her grievances. She was posted in difficult terrain for decades in blatant violation of the rules," Pradesh Congress president Pritam Singh said.
"A chief minister belongs to everyone not just a political party. He should have patiently listened to the woman's grievance and addressed it rather than losing his temper and humiliating her," Singh later told PTI.
Demanding immediate withdrawal of her suspension order, the PCC president said she should be given a suitable posting in the plains at the earliest.
Uttara Bahuguna, the principal of Government Primary School in Uttarkashi, was charged with indecent behaviour and suspended for allegedly hurling abuses at the chief minister during a 'janta darbar' here.
Bahuguna had demanded transfer to Dehradun as her husband had expired and she wanted to take care of her family, but her request was turned down.
