Nabyendu Ghosh, the Chhatra Parishad district president, was injured in the armed clash, in which bullets were fired by both the camps, according to inspector-in-charge of Raiganj Police Station Gautam Chakraborty.
The fight took place when Ajoy Sarkar, president of TMC's student wing, Trinamool Chhatra Parishad (TMCP), of North Dinajpur district, went to the college and was accosted by members of the Chhatra Parishad (CP), which controls the college union.
The Chhatra Parishad has called a 12-hour bandh in Raiganj to protest against the alleged assault of its district president.
