Congress to hold regional convention in Mangaluru

The Congress would hold aworkers' convention at Adyar gardens here on July 7 to gear upthe party machinery before the coming assembly elections, district-in-charge Minister B Ramanath Rai said today.
Addressing reporters here, he said party workers from Dakshina Kannada and Kodagu districts would particicpate in the convention.
It would be attended by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah,KPCC president G Parameshwar, senior leader MallikarjunKharge, KPCC working president Dinesh Gundu Rao and AICCGeneral Secretary in charge of Karnataka K C Venugopal.
Regional conventions and workshops were being held across the state highlighting the achievements and development programmes of the Congress government in the state, he said.
Answering a question, Rai denied the charge levelled against him by former Congress leader Harikrishna Bantwal that he had made derogatory remarks against veteran leader Janardhan Poojary during a private function.
The minister said he had always backed Poojary's stance in internal elections in the Congress.
