Congress to protests against power tariff hike in Rajasthan

Irked by power tariff hike announced recently by the Rajasthan Government, the state Congress today announced that its all district units would hold a protest against this decision on March 4.
At all district headquarters the Congress workers will hold demonstration against power tariff hike which was in the range of 16 to 19 per cent on all categories of customers on March 4, Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee (RPCC) Vice President Dr Archna Sharma said in a statement here.
A delegation of district Congress units would demand the state government to roll back tariff and submit a memorandum to the concerned collectors to this effect, she said.
Rajasthan Electricity Regulatory Commission (RERC) had announced revised power tariffs for different consumer categories, permitting Discoms to increase domestic electricity charges by around 16% (85 paise per unit) and non-domestic usages charges by around 19%. The average increase for all categories is 16.89%.
The fixed charges too were increased for all categories - the hike ranging between Rs 20 and Rs 50 per connection per month.
