The Jammu and Kashmir Congress today extended support to a bandh call given by a traders federation for tomorrow and accused the PDP-BJP government of "total failure" in meeting expectations of the people.
The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Pradesh Congress Committee president G A Mir here, an official spokesman said.
"The Congress party in order to make common cause has extended its support to the bandh call on the occasion of reopening of civil secretariat here, while the party leaders and senior activists will hold a protest march from Shahidi Chowk towards the Civil Secretariat and court arrest," the spokesman said.
He said the protest would be staged over the "total failure" of the coalition on various fronts.
The party also announced a protest march in the state on November 8, the first anniversary of demonetisation, as part of its nationwide programme to observe the day as "black day".
Addressing the meeting, Mir asked the party leaders and workers to gear up to hold a strong protest against the "wrong policies" of the Centre and the state governments, and their "failure" to meet the expectations of the people.
