Congress workers detained before Gujarat CM's event in Narmada

More than 30 Congress workers were detained by police today to prevent them from protesting at Chief Minister Anandiben Patel's 'Shala Praveshutsav' programme at a remote village in Narmada district.
Thirty-two Congress workers were detained in Sagbara town this morning. These Congress workers were led by former MLA Amarsinh Vasava, who was also detained, Inspector J G Patel
He said Patel was at Kherpada village to launch several schemes for tribal students as part of the ongoing 'Shala Praveshutsav' (school enrollment drive) and inaugurated three new schools built in that village.
"Before her programme, around 30 Congress workers gathered and started shouting slogans against the state government alleging lack of staff in schools in this tribal dominated district," the police official said.

After learning about the movements of Congress workers, police rushed to the spot and detained these workers, who had planned to go to the event venue and stage protest in front of CM, the police official said.
"Before they could leave for the venue, we detained 32 of them at around 10 am. They were led by former MLA Amarsinh Vasava. According to them, lack of teachers is the main reason behind the poor results of this district in the board exams. We released them at around 1 pm after the CM's programme ended," the police official said.
