Conservancy workers want to be classified as health workers

Around two thousand conservancy workers of the Vasai Virar Municipal Corporation today took out a march to press their demand that they be classified as Aarogya Sevaks (health workers).
These workers are currently called Safai Kamgaar.
They said they wanted the corporation to classify them as the 'Aarogya Sevak' (health workers) and give them a dignified life.
Shramajivi Sanghatana's Vivek Pandit who organised the march said such protests would be carried out in other cities in the district too.
Conservancy department comes under the health department and hence this workers are also health workers, he said.
