Constable arrested

A constable has been arrested for
allegedly killing a local goldsmith in the district, police said here today.
Paramjeet has been arrested for allegedly shooting dead Jatin, a goldsmith on Friday night, SHO Lohamndi police station B K Bhati said.
According to SHO Bhati, the firing incident happened after a dispute between Paramjeet and a man identified as Jeetu at a party here at a local hotel-cum-bar.
At the party, Jeetu allegedly slapped Paramjeet over some argument and ran out of the bar, police said.
Paramjeet fired at him but the bullet struck Jatin, who was also running with the constable to catch Jeetu.
The goldsmith was taken to hospital where he died.
Meanwhile, the SSP Shalabh Mathur, has ordered the disbandment of the Crime Branch of the local police.
The Head of the Crime Branch Squad Ajay Kishore and four others have been sent to the police lines, while the remaining members have been sent to their former postings.
