The incident occurred early this morning when constables Shyam Singh Malik and Mukesh Teotia were patrolling on their 'Leopard Mobile' (motorcycle) in site-4 industrial area of Sahibabad, said Officiating (city) superintendent of police Vipin Tada.
When they were checking trucks parked on roadside near Jhandapur village, a speeding loaded dumper truck coming from opposite side rammed into their motor cycle, crushing Malik under its wheels and severely injuring Teotia, Tada said.
Both of them were rushed to a hospital where attending doctors pronounced constable Malik brought dead, the police officer said.
Police, meanwhile, had chased the truck and cornered it near Maharajpur village. However, taking advantage of fog and poor visibility the driver fled away leaving behind the truck, the officiating SP said.
Later constable Malik was cremated at Hindan crematorium with full police guard of honour in presence of senior police officials.
An FIR under sections 279 and 304A of Indian Penal Code has been registered against the truck driver, the officer said, adding efforts were on to nab him.
