Constable injured after his rifle misfires
Press Trust of India Hyderabad One Andhra Pradesh Special Police (APSP) constable guarding the high security US Consulate Office in the Begumpet area here suffered serious injuries here today after his service self-loading rifle (SLR) misfired this evening, the police said.
Constable Narasimha Swamy, discharging sentry duty at gate number one of the US Consulate Office, was injured after his SLR accidentally fired and one bullet hit his stomach at around 6.50 pm, the police said.
"He has been admitted to a private hospital in a serious condition. He is undergoing treatment and surgery is being conducted to remove the bullet," Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) R Jaya Lakshmi told PTI.
The US Consulate Office is guarded by the Andhra Pradesh Special Police (APSP) and Narasimha is attached to the APSP's 12th battalion, the DCP said.
