Constable suspended on charges of human trafficking

Ajeeb, who was posted at the Cochin International Airport here, has been suspended after a preliminary investigation revealed that "he was involved in the case", DGP K S Balasubramaniyam said.

Cases have been registered against the absconding constable under the Passports Act, Emigration Act and different sections of IPC.

Investigations revealed the constable possessed four fake SIM cards, obtained by using details of various passengers, and used them for various activities.

An Assistant Commissioner of Police, posted for nearly 12 years at the Kochi airport, is also being investigated by the Intelligence Bureau, state intelligence and Police headquarters, police sources said.

Meanwhile, Union Minister K C Venugopal said here that he will draw attention of Home Minister on the issue Human trafficking from airports in Kerala.

"I Will bring the issue to the notice of Home Minister," he said.
