Two police constables were today suspended for allegedly trying to extort money from two members of a gang of cheats after arresting them.
"According to the complaint, the constables arrested two members of Tatlu gang from Barsana and kept them captive to extort money from them. However, the truth will come out when both the absconding constables will be nabbed. They have been suspended," SSP Nitin Tewari said.
A team of the Crime Branch was send to Dhauli Piau falling under Kotwali police station for nabbing the constables after family members of the victims complained to the police, alleging that the constables were demanding ransom for the release of the gang members, he said.
"We will also write to the government for terminating their services, if the report is found correct," he said.
Tatlu gang members are involved in selling fake gold bricks.
