Construction company worker shot

An employee of a private construction company was seriously injured when six unidentified motorcycle-borne persons opened fire in the Kalapada locality in Kendrapara district today.
Durga Prasad Mohaptra (30) was supervising a river embankment project when he was shot, at injuring him on the right hand, upper chest and thigh, SDPO of Kendrapara Nrusingh Charana Swain said.
Swain said extortion was the motive behind the crime and gangsters of the Kendrapara-based crime syndicate were involved.
The injured person was first admitted in the district government hospital at Kendrapada and later shifted to SCB medical college and hospital at Cuttack as his condition was stated to be serious.

Senior police officials have gone to the spot and all entry points have been sealed to nab the attackers. There was tension in the area following the incident.
