The Consumer Affairs Ministry has put in place a dedicated team to resolve consumer grievances related to e-commerce companies and others.
"Glad to share that Consumer Affairs Minister Ram Vilas Paswan has put in place a dedicated team for dealing with consumer grievances," the commerce and industry ministry said in a series of tweets.
It said that Joint Secretary Anil Bahuguna in the Ministry of Consumer affairs will be the nodal officer for addressing the grievances.
The commerce ministry has said that it would help the Consumer Affairs Ministry in building the capacity to deal with such complaints.
The development assumes significance as Paswan and Commerce Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had recently discussed issues related to consumer grievances against e-commerce companies.
Government has also warned some ecommerce firms of stringent action for not responding to its queries on customer grievances.
Nearly 46 companies, including Flipkart, Xiaomi, Olx.In and Bookmyoffer.Com, have not been responding to mails sent to them with regard to redressal of such grievances.
The Commerce and Industry Ministry had already launched 'Twitter Seva', to address issues and grievances of startups, exporters and importers, and other stakeholders.
