The Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW), base 2001-100, increased by a record four points during the month of July to stand at 235.
However, the inflation based on monthly CPI-IW stood at 10.85 per cent in July 2013 compared to 11.06 per cent during the previous month while it was 9.84 per cent during July 2012.
Similarly, the Food inflation stood at 14.10 per cent against 14.86 per cent in the previous month and 11.27 per cent during the corresponding period last year.
The largest upward pressure to the current index came from the Food group, which contributed 1.99 percentage points to the total change.
However, that was compensated to some extent by groundnut oil, primary and secondary school fees putting a downward pressure on the index.
At the central level, Giridih recorded the highest increase of 16 points followed by Kodarma (11), Durgapur (10) and Jharia, Surat, Ghaziabad and Godavarikhani (nine each).
