Container lifting equipment reach stacker caught fire at the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) near Mumbai, sources said.
The fire was the result of a short-circuit and was put out later by local fire fighting personnel, the sources said.
The reach stacker's battery compartment was damaged in the blaze, they said.
The incident happened at the container freight station (CFS) Speedy Multimodes, spread over 68 acres and owned by the JNPT but given to a firm for operation and management contract for 20 years.
