Contraband drugs worth crores of rupees seized

Police today made a big catch of contraband drugs worth crores of rupees from godowns of three goods transport companies in Transport Nagar here.
Commissioner of Police (Ludhiana) Parmjit Singh Gill said the seized medicines included over one crore tablets and capsules, 11,000 injections and 1,680 bottles of syrup being consumed as intoxicant.
He said a father and son duo from Moga - Pawan Goyal and Nitin Goyal - had been engaged in smuggling of these goods from neighoubring states including Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Rajsthan and Haryana.
A case has been registered against seven persons under various sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, Gill said.
