A contraband smuggler was held today with two kg opium, valued at about Rs 30 lakh in international market, from a market in Lohagada locality in Bihar's Kishanganj district, an Saashastra Seema Bal (SSB) official said.
Acting on a tip off, the SSB jawans nabbed the smuggler, identified as Md. Junaid with the haul of opium while he was looking for a customer in the market, the SSB Commandant Ashok Jha said.
Junaid's associate Md Almas, however, managed to escape by giving the SSB jawans a slip, he said.
The smuggler has been handed over to the local police for necessary action against him, Jha said.
