The contractor, Lalu Singh, was on way home last night when the assailants fired at him from close range killing him on the spot, Dehri police station's Station House Officer (SHO) Triloki Prasad said.
The body has been sent for post-mortem, he said.
A named FIR has been filed against five persons - Kakku Khan, Sandip Yadav, Mintu Choudhary, Mantu Choudhary and Arun Dubey - charging them in the murder case of the contractor, Prasad said.
