The protesting workers were from hospitals such as AIIMS Safdarjung hospital, DDU among others.
There are around 5,000 contractual employees engaged by more than 20 outsourcing companies who are working as guards, sanitation staff, house keeping, computer operators, lab technicians in different hospitals in the city.
Later, the protestors also submitted a memorandum to the Union labour minister, and labour secretary demanding implementation of minimum wages, weekly offs, national holidays, payments of wages on time etc.
"There is gross violation of labour laws. If an employee takes weekly offs, his salary is cut. Also, the monthly payment is delayed till 20th of every month," a protesting worker said.
