Cop assaulted, his uniform torn off by auto driver

A 28-year-old constable of Uttar Pradesh Police was brutally assaulted and his uniform torn off by an auto driver when he asked him to remove his vehicle parked in the middle of road, causing traffic snag in Loni area last evening, police said today.
Police said that the incident took place last evening Tirah Crossing where constable Mahesh Chand was deputed to manage the traffic movement there.
"When Mahesh was handling the traffic movement, an auto driver, identified as Imran, suddenly parked his vehicle in the middle of the road and left for buying grocery items from a nearby market. His parked auto was slowing down traffic movement," said a senior police officer.
The officer said that when Mahesh asked Imran to immediately remove his auto from the road, he got angry and a brawl broke out between them.
"The fight turned ugly when Imran started assaulting him and tore off Mahesh's uniform. After tearing police uniform, Imran tried to run away from the spot, but he was nabbed by some passerby and taken to police station," officer said.
He further said that based on a complaint filed by Mahesh, who suffered injuries on his head and leg in the assault, police have registered a case against Imran at Loni police station.
