A police constable was Monday booked for allegedly demanding a bribe for not taking action against a woman accused of running a brothel, a Maharashtra Anti-Corruption Bureau official said.
The woman had filed a complaint with the ACB that the constable was demanding a bribe of Rs 20,000, ACB Inspector Ashwini Kusurkar said.
Following a probe which showed there was prima facie evidence against the constable, a case was registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act with Nerul police station, the official said.
Kusurkar said the constable was yet to be arrested.
