The accused K K Sharma was caught while receiving a bribe from one Mulayam Lodhi at Vinayaka police station, some 30 km from the district headquarters, Lokayukta police sub inspector, K K Agrawal told PTI.
He said that Sharma had demanded Rs 10,000 from Lodhi to strike out some names from an First Information Report (FIR) in connection with a fight after the latter approached him.
Lodhi lodged a complaint with Lokayukta and a trap was laid. As soon as Lodhi was handing over the first instalment of Rs 5,000 to Sharma, the SI was arrested, Agrawal said.
A case under relevant sections of Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered and investigations are underway, the officer said.
