A police inspector has moved the Madras High Court bench here seeking disciplinary action against an Additional Superintendent of Police for 'ruining' his career by foisting a "false" case in 2000.
Justice S.Vaidhyanathan, before whom the petition came up for hearing, directed the Home Secretary to consider a representation by the petitioner and take appropriate action within two weeks.
Petitioner V Kumaravel submitted that despite a high court order and findings by superior officers that the case was foisted on him, no action had been taken against ADSP (Madurai) Johnrose.
He sought a direction to the Tamil Nadu Home Secretary, thed DGP and the South Zone IG to take disciplinary action against the ADSP and not to allow him to retire.
According to the petitioner, when he was working in Virudhunagar as a Sub-Inspector in 2000, Johnrose, then Inspector at the SP's office, conspired with certain higher officials and filed a criminal case against him. He was lodged in jail with uniform and humiliated and victimised.
However, later a discreet inquiry by the DIG found that the case filed against him was false. Two other DIGs also found that he was honest and Johnrose had acted in an high-handed manner and they also recommended punishment given to him for disobeying superiors be setaside, the petitioner said.
As no action was taken, he approached the high court which recommended disciplinary action against Johnrose in 2006. But no action had been taken against him so far, he said.
He again preferred a representation to the higher officials, including the Home Secretary, but no action had been taken.
