SI Darshan Singh and a dhaba owner Surinderpal Pandit were arrested as the SI was accepting bribe of Rs 5,000 from Jagdish Kaur, SSP (VB) Satinder Singh said, adding that a head constable Kanwaljit Singh was absconding.
The policemen were demanding bribe to the tune of Rs 15,000 from the woman to help her son in a theft case, the SSP said.
The head constable had already taken Rs 10,000, and had told the woman to pay the rest to the SI at Pandit's dhaba here, the officer said, adding that based on a complaint from the woman, the VB conducted a raid and arrested Darshan and Pandit.
