Prices of copper eased by Rs 2 per kg at the local non-ferrous metals market today due to reduced demand from consuming industries amid weak global cues.
Traders attributed the fall in copper prices to a lower global trend where the metal dropped to the lowest price in almost 12 weeks, as a stronger dollar reduced demand for the metal as an alternative investment.
Meanwhile, copper for delivery in three months retreated to USD 6,781.25 a tonne, the weakest since June 20 on the London Metal Exchange.
In the national capital, copper mixed scrap declined by Rs 2 to 436 per kg.
Following are today's metal rates (in Rs per kg):
Zinc ingot 114-120, Nickel plate (4x4) 1,100-1,106, Gun metal scrap 227, Bell metal scrap 229, Copper mixed scrap 436, Chadri deshi 285.
Lead ingot 111, Lead imported 109, Aluminium ingots 166, Aluminium sheet cutting 167, Aluminium wire scrap 169 and Aluminium utensils scrap 166.
