Tracking a weak global trend, copper futures traded a shade lower at Rs 436.25 per kg as speculators trimmed positions.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in far-month November contracts shed 65 paise, or 0.15 per cent to Rs 436.25 per kg in business turnover of 254 lots.
Likewise, the metal for delivery in August traded lower by 60 paise, or 0.14 per cent to Rs 429.10 per kg in 10,739 lots.
Analysts attributed the fall in copper futures to a weak global trend after Rio Tinto Group said its production is rising.
Meanwhile, copper for delivery in three months retreated 0.5 per cent to USD 7,042 a tonne, the lowest price since July 2 on the London Metal Exchange.
