Copper futures edge higher 0.09% on spot demand

Copper prices were up by 0.09 per cent to Rs 317.95 per kg in futures trading today as speculators built up fresh positions amid pick up in demand from consuming industries in the spot market.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in June month edged up by 30 paise, or 0.09 per cent to Rs 317.95 per kg in business turnover of 22,556 lots.
Likewise, the metal for delivery in far-month August contracts traded marginally higher by 10 paise, or 0.03 per cent to Rs 322.10 per kg in 1,361 lots.
Marketmen attributed the rise in copper futures to fresh positions created by traders due to pick up in demand in the spot market.
