Copper prices rose by Rs 5.15 to Rs 404.10 per kg in futures trade today on rising demand in spot markets even as metal weakened overseas.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in February gained Rs 5.15, or 0.54%, to Rs 404.10 per kg in a business turnover of 2,223 lots.
The metal for delivery in far-month April edged up by Rs 2, or 0.50%, to Rs 405.10 per kg in 33 lots.
However, the metal's weakness at the London Metal Exchange (LME) restricted the gains.
Copper for delivery in three months fell 0.4% to USD 6,278 a tonne at the LME.
