Copper up by 0.3% on firm global trend

China data is expected to give out clues on the slowing economy

Supported by a firm global trend, copper prices edged higher by 0.27% to Rs 354.15 per kg in futures trade today.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in far-month February traded higher by 95 paise, or 0.27%, at Rs 354.15 per kg in a business turnover of seven lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in November edged up 85 paise, or 0.24%, to Rs 348.35 per kg in 449 lots.

Analysts said a firming trend in base metals at the London Metal Exchange (LME) ahead of China data that will give clues on the slowing economy influenced copper futures here.

Meanwhile, copper for delivery in three months was firm at $5,116 per tonne at the London Metal Exchange.
