At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in January traded 70 paise, or 0.15 per cent, higher at Rs 454.55 per kg in a business turnover of 1,585 lots.
On similar lines, the metal for delivery in February contracts edged up by 30 paise, or 0.07 per cent, to Rs 458.25 per kg in 1 lot.
Analysts said widening of positions by traders on the back of rising demand from consuming industries in the physical market kept copper prices higher.
