Copper prices were up by 0.23 per cent to Rs 323.10 per kg in futures trade today as participants widened their position, driven by firm demand from consuming industries at the spot market and a firm trend overseas.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in February next year advanced by 75 paise or 0.23 per cent to Rs 323.10 per kg in business turnover of 10 lots.

On similar lines, the metal for delivery in November contracts traded higher by 60 paise or 0.19 per cent to Rs 316.80 per kg in 710 lots.

Market analysts said widening of positions by traders on the back of rising demand from consuming industries at the spot market amid a firming global trend mainly kept copper prices higher at futures trade.
