Copper prices fell further by 0.06 per cent to Rs 470.05 per kg in futures trade today as speculators pared their positions, driven by a weak trend overseas.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in far-month August declined by 30 paise, or 0.06 per cent to Rs 470.05 per kg in business turnover of 38 lots.
Likewise, the metal for delivery in June contracts weakened by 15 paise, or 0.03 per cent to Rs 465 per kg in 1,835 lots.
Analysts said participants cut down their positions as global copper prices slipped for the second session after US President Donald Trump said any trade deal with China would "need a different structure" and Washington launched a probe into auto imports that could lead to new tariffs.
Globally, copper for delivery in three-month was down 0.1 per cent to USD 6,858.50 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
