At Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in February inched up by Rs 1.85, or 0.59 per cent, to Rs 316.85 per kg, in a business turnover of 335 lots.
Likewise, the metal for delivery in far-month April traded higher by Rs 1.80, or 0.56 per cent, to Rs 321.70 per kg in 65 lots.
Analysts said besides pick up in domestic demand, gains in most industrial metals at the London Metal Exchange (LME) as finance chiefs from the Group of 20 sought to shore up investors' confidence in global economic prospects, with the head of China's central bank saying that policy makers still have room to act, influenced copper prices at futures trade.
