Tracking a weak trend overseas and easing demand in the domestic spot markets, copper prices drifted lower by 0.19 per cent to Rs 392.50 per kg in futures trade today as speculators cut down their positions.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in February month fell by 75 paise, or 0.19 per cent to Rs 392.50 per kg in business turnover of 832 lots.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in far-month April declined by 70 paise, or 0.18 per cent to Rs 395.45 per kg in 4 lots.
Marketmen attributed the fall in copper prices at futures trade to a weak trend overseas amid fall in demand at domestic spot market.
Meanwhile, copper for delivery in three months dropped 0.6 per cent in Shanghai to 46,900 yuan a metric tonne.
