Copper prices fell by 0.37 per cent to Rs 462 per kg in futures market today as speculators reduced their positions amid weak trend overseas.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in June declined by Rs 1.70, or 0.37 per cent to Rs 462 per kg in business turnover of 1,822 lots.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in far-month August shed Rs 1.70, or 0.36 per cent to Rs 466 per kg in 21 lots.
Analysts attributed the fall in copper prices at futures trade to a weak overseas trend where the metal slid, coming under pressure from a rise in stockpiles of the metal used in power and construction.
Meanwhile, copper for delivery in three-month fell 0.2 per cent to USD 6,873 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
