Copper prices rose 0.24 per cent to Rs 377.55 per kg in futures trading today as participants widened their bets, tracking a firm trend at spot market on pick-up in demand.
At Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery this month edged up by 90 paise, or 0.24 per cent to Rs 377.55 per kg in business turnover of 21,571 lots.
On similar lines, the metal for delivery in August contract was trading higher by a similar margin to Rs 381.40 per kg in 3,191 lots.
Market analysts attributed the rise in copper futures trade to expanding of positions by traders, driven by a firm trend at the physical market on upsurge in demand.
