At the Multi Commodity Exchange, the copper contract for delivery in June traded higher by Rs 2.10, or 0.53 per cent, to Rs 396.50 per kg in a business turnover of 193 lots.
Also, far-month August contract of the metal was trading higher Rs 1.85, or 0.46 per cent, at Rs 401.20 per kg in just one lot.
Analysts attributed the rise in copper futures to a firm global trend.
Meanwhile, copper for delivery in three months added 0.5 per cent to USD 6,136 per tonne on the London Metal Exchange as outlook for demand improved after better-than-expected US new home sales and gains in Chinese industrial profits.
