Copper prices fell by 0.87 per cent to Rs 460.60 per kg in futures trade today as participants trimmed positions amid weak global cues and subdued domestic demand.
Analysts attributed the fall in copper futures to a weak trend in base metals at the London Metal Exchange (LME) and subdued demand at the physical markets.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in February fell by Rs 4.05, or 0.87 per cent, to Rs 460.60 per kg, in a business turnover of 1,835 lots.
The metal for delivery in April also fell by Rs 3.75, or 0.80 per cent, to trade at Rs 465.10 per kg in a turnover of 333 lots.
Globally, three-month copper eased by 0.3 per cent to USD 7,144 per tonne.
