Copra prices surge on higher demand

Copra prices surged at the spices market here today on higher demand from stockist and millers amidst good retail offtake.
While, rest of the other spices ruled stable in the absence of any major buying.
Copra office Alapuzha, copra office Kozhikode and copra Rajapur Mumbai all climbed by Rs 100 per quintal each to Rs 4,600, Rs 4,500 and Rs 6,100 from Monday's closing level of Rs 4,500, Rs 4,400 and Rs 6,000, respectively.
Copra edible Mumbai gained by Rs 25 per quintal to Rs 5,600 as against Rs 5,575 previously.
Following are today's closing rates in Rs with previous rates in brackets:
Black pepper (per kg) 355/405 (355/405), ginger bleached (per kg) 180 (180), ginger unbleached (per kg) 190 (190), copra office Alapuzha (per quintal) 4,600 (4,500), copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 4,500 (4,400), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 6,100 (6,000) Copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 5,600 (5,575).
